In Ships, this philosophy is evident in the dense, crystalline structure of the scene. The canvas is packed with figures and maritime elements that seem to merge into a single, cohesive organism. Filonov viewed the act of painting as a biological process. He believed that every detail, no matter how small, required the same level of attention as the whole.
