This panel is a predella from Giovanni Bellini's Pesaro Altarpiece. Bellini (c. 1430-1516) was a Venetian painter, celebrated for his mastery of colour and his contributions to the Venetian School during the Early Renaissance. He came from a family of artists; his father, Jacopo Bellini, and brother, Gentile Bellini, were also painters. Giovanni is considered one of the artists who brought Renaissance ideals to Venice. The panel depicts a young male saint, possibly Saint George, standing on a pedestal in front of an Italianate city. He holds a model of a building in one hand and a flag bearing a red cross in the other. The architecture is rendered in muted tones of beige and brown, creating a sense of depth and perspective. The saint's clothing is a classical Roman style, with a short tunic and cloak. The overall composition is balanced and serene, typical of Bellini's style. The painting's subdued palette and attention to detail reflect the Early Renaissance aesthetic.
