Attributed to the artist Ghasi, who was active in the Mewar court during the early nineteenth century, the work follows the established conventions of Rajput court portraiture. The Maharana is shown in profile, a standard orientation for royal figures in this tradition, which emphasises the regal bearing and the specific attributes of his rank.

He stands against a deep blue background, holding a falcon on his gloved left hand.
