Jean Arp, a founding member of the Dada movement in Zurich, created this work during a period of intense experimentation with chance and organic abstraction. Enak's Tears (Terrestrial Forms) belongs to a series of wood reliefs where Arp moved away from traditional representational painting to explore the autonomy of form. The composition consists of layered, cut-out wooden shapes that suggest biological growth or cellular structures rather than fixed objects.

Arp utilised a limited palette of saturated colours to define the spatial relationships between the overlapping planes. The interplay of the deep blue, dark brown, and red sections creates a sense of physical depth, while the white, rounded element acts as a visual anchor within the arrangement. By removing the artist's hand from the final finish, Arp sought to achieve a sense of objective, natural creation.
