Heinrich Aldegrever
Heinrich Aldegrever belonged to the German Little Masters. He created engravings that departed from standard rectangular formats. He frequently included visual puns or moralising themes. A depiction of a soldier with a nude woman is a humorous warning about the phallic nature of the weapon.
