Executed in ink and light colour on silk, the composition follows the conventions of the Nanga school, which drew inspiration from Chinese literati painting traditions. The artist employs subtle washes to suggest the heavy blanket of snow covering the craggy peaks and the valley floor, creating a sense of quiet stillness.
In the foreground, a lone traveller on horseback crosses a small bridge, while a second figure walks along the path below. These human elements provide a sense of scale against the imposing, snow-dusted rock formations. A small cluster of buildings is visible in the middle distance, tucked away amidst the mist and trees, suggesting a remote settlement.
