Description
White Brow Hill follows a pale footpath over an open green rise, where the long climb and distant patchwork country give the Derbyshire uplands an inviting sense of direction.
The track begins between tall grasses and white umbels before bending repeatedly towards the rounded summit. Dark hedgerows divide the distant fields into soft horizontal bands, and small tree clumps sit on the flanks of the hill. Cream clouds spread across a spacious blue-grey sky.
White Brow Hill speaks to anyone who has set out on a ridge walk and watched the surrounding country widen with each turn. The path is the lasting cue here, carrying the eye from close ground towards the crest and far fields. It carries the changing view that comes with gaining height above the fields below.
