Description
Westbury White Horse stands pale against a steep green scarp, a crisp and cheerful view of chalk downland above a deep belt of summer woodland and fields.
The pale horse faces left near the crest, small but unmistakable against the turf. Below it a smooth meadow carries a scatter of tiny white sheep, and hedgerows ripple across the middle ground. Dense oaks and hazels in lime and bottle green fill the lower third beneath a sky with one big cumulus and a few thin streaks of cloud.
The Westbury White Horse is one of Wiltshire's best-loved hill figures, and this view keeps its scale honest, a pale shape on the skyline with farmland between. It is an easy choice for walkers who know the escarpment, or for anyone drawn to deep greens and blue sky.
