A bold geometric screenprint featuring overlapping diagonal bands and saturated colour fields, creating a dynamic study in form and transparency.
This work presents a study in geometric fragmentation and colour interaction. The composition relies on a series of sharp, diagonal bands that slice across the picture plane, creating a sense of dynamic movement. Within these defined zones, organic, cloud-like shapes emerge in a variety of saturated hues, including deep blue, bright orange, emerald green, and magenta. The layering of these forms suggests a transparency effect, where overlapping shapes create new, darker tones at their intersections.
By employing hard-edged linear boundaries against softer, irregular internal forms, the piece balances structural rigour with fluid visual elements. The white negative space surrounding the central motif acts as a frame, allowing the intensity of the colours to remain the primary focus. This approach to composition reflects mid-twentieth-century interests in the mechanics of perception and the physical properties of ink on paper. The screenprinting process is evident in the flat application of colour and the crispness of the diagonal edges, which provide a clean finish to the complex arrangement of shapes.
This print is suited for contemporary interiors that require a bold visual statement. Its reliance on primary and secondary colour relationships makes it a versatile addition to spaces with neutral decor, where the work can function as a primary point of visual interest. The absence of a representational subject encourages the viewer to engage directly with the formal qualities of the work, such as the balance between the rigid diagonal lines and the softer, more spontaneous internal forms. The print is produced to museum-grade standards, ensuring the longevity of the ink density and the clarity of the geometric boundaries.
