This hand-coloured woodcut, produced by the Belgian firm Glenisson & Zonen, serves as a pedagogical tool for children, presenting the classical seven planets of the geocentric model. The composition arranges the celestial bodies as anthropomorphic figures upon a tiered architectural structure, reflecting the popular educational methods of the nineteenth century. Each figure is identified by name and associated with specific mythological attributes, such as the sword and shield of Mars or the caduceus held by Mercurius. The central figure of Sol occupies the highest position, surrounded by the other planetary deities, while the lower section contains a detailed Dutch text explaining the astronomical and mythological significance of each figure.

The print exhibits the characteristic aesthetic of mid-nineteenth-century popular broadsides. The lines are bold and functional, designed for mass production through woodblock printing. The application of colour is simple and direct, often extending slightly beyond the printed outlines, which is typical of the period's hand-tinting techniques.
