Description
Vale of White Horse opens across rolling fields, centred on the chalk horse cut into a green hillside beneath a wide sky of drifting clouds.
The white hill figure is set into a steep green slope, where a narrow pale path curves through long grass towards the ridge. Beyond it, hedges divide yellow and green fields into broad strips, fading towards a distant blue horizon. High clouds leave open bands of clear sky above the downland.
For a visitor, the Vale of White Horse offers a clear sense of the view from the chalk hills, with farmland spreading far below. For people nearby, the familiar horse remains a fixed point in a changing pattern of crops and weather.
