Description
A long line of standing stones crosses wind-combed golden moor at Upper Erme Stone Row, with rust-red heather and a bright sky above the empty hills.
The tallest stone stands near the centre, flanked by smaller grey slabs that march off in both directions. Wind flattens the pale grass into streaks, and mounds of heather burn deep red between them. A jagged slab leans into the lower left corner, and shadowed hills roll up to a clean horizon beneath towering white clouds.
Upper Erme Stone Row sits on the southern edge of Dartmoor in Devon, laid out in a line by people thousands of years ago. Walkers who have found them in open country will understand the scale, and the warm gold and blue make a calm choice for a landing, studio or a stone-lover's desk.
