Description
The long green shoulder of Twmpa in Powys rises above a patchwork of fields, with deep gullies, pale distant ridges and tall white clouds opening across the Welsh border landscape.
Twmpa stands in the Black Mountains of Wales and is also known as Lord Hereford’s Knob. Seen from Hay Bluff, its northern escarpment drops steeply below rolling moorland. The exposed hill overlooks lower farming country, where fields extend beyond the mountain slopes.
A broad flat-topped ridge stretches across the left of the scene. Dark green channels cut down its face, fading into warmer ochre ground below. Tree-lined boundaries divide the valley into irregular shapes. Grass blades cross the near hillside, while small pale roofs dot the lower fields below a bright sky crossed by fine strips of white cloud.
