His work often depicts still life subjects, as well as landscapes from his travels in France and Scotland. 'Tulips in a Brown Jar' exemplifies Peploe's approach to still life painting. The composition features a simple arrangement of tulips in a jar, set against a loosely defined background. The brushwork is expressive, with visible strokes that convey a sense of spontaneity.
