Description
Thorney in Lincolnshire places a grand Gothic church beside still water, where tall reeds and tree-lined banks frame its pale stone reflection in the Fens.
The square tower rises above pointed windows and a long, slate-roofed nave, its four pinnacles crisp against a cloud-flecked sky. Across the foreground pond, broken ripples carry the building’s vertical form among green reflections. A dark-leaved canopy at one side and a slender poplar at the other give the composition an unusually formal balance.
The artwork looks to Thorney in Lincolnshire, a village where church architecture meets lowland water. It offers a poised, detailed scene for admirers of historic buildings, waterside walks and the measured light of the Fens and quiet village edges.
