This page is from William Morris's edition of *The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam*, featuring text and decoration by Morris, with illustrations by Edward Burne-Jones. Morris (1834-1896) was a British textile designer, poet, novelist, translator, and socialist activist associated with the Arts and Crafts movement. Burne-Jones (1833-1898) was a British artist and designer closely associated with Morris; both were inspired by medieval art and literature. The page is divided into two distinct sections. The upper portion contains a framed illustration of two figures embracing beside a harp, set against a backdrop of foliage and a classical fireplace. The lower portion presents calligraphic text, surrounded by a border of stylised vines and leaves. The text is a verse from Edward FitzGerald's translation of *The Rubaiyat*. The overall design reflects the Arts and Crafts movement's emphasis on handmade quality, the integration of text and image, and the use of natural motifs.
