This method, influenced by Georges Seurat, aimed to achieve a greater degree of luminosity and colour mixing than traditional techniques. Cross's work often depicts Mediterranean landscapes, reflecting his later life spent in the south of France. In "The Pink Cloud", Cross employs the pointillist technique to capture a serene coastal scene. The sky is dominated by a large, pink-tinged cloud, rendered with small dabs of colour that create a soft, diffused effect.
