Above the cat-stone field, the enormous spotted demon escapes with the funeral shroud as its tail divides into the bakeneko’s final sign, while airborne spotted cat demon and clearly forked tail sharpen this particular moment.
The Okazaki episode does not resolve with a quiet room. The cat demon emerges at the funeral, takes the wrapped dead and rises beyond human reach while Mimbu-no-suke gives chase. The forked tail completes the revelation of the creature’s supernatural age and power.
This contemporary interpretation throws the cat across a vermilion-black sky from an extreme low viewpoint. Ochre ground collapses beneath the pursuer, and the two tail tips cut cleanly through the storm without flames, smoke or graphic detail. In The Forked-Tail Flight, airborne spotted cat demon and clearly forked tail establish the vermilion black ochre rhythm assigned to scene 4.
