This work is a reproduction of a drawing by Albrecht Altdorfer, dated 1513. It depicts the legend of the Bocca della Verità, or the Mouth of Truth, a marble mask located in Rome. According to folklore, the stone face would bite the hand of any person who told a lie while placing their hand inside its mouth.
