Le Pho (1907-2001) was a Vietnamese-French painter known for blending Impressionist and traditional Vietnamese artistic styles. He was part of a generation of Vietnamese artists who studied at the École des Beaux-Arts de l'Indochine in Hanoi during the French colonial period, later moving to France and establishing successful careers there. His work often depicts scenes of Vietnamese life, portraits, and floral arrangements, rendered with a delicate touch and a harmonious colour palette. 'Summer' presents two figures amidst a lush, verdant setting. The composition focuses on two women, one in a bright yellow top and the other in white, surrounded by green foliage.
