Description
Stob Ghabhar in Highland Argyll gathers ochre and mauve slopes around descending streams, with dark woodland below and scattered grey boulders across the near autumn moor.
Among the Black Mount peaks, Stob Ghabhar has radiating ridges and deeply carved corries surrounding a prominent summit. It stands northwest of Loch Tulla and forms part of the mountain country seen from Rannoch Moor, where steep rock contrasts with extensive open uplands.
Ochre and mauve slopes enclose a narrow central glen, with thin streams descending towards darker low ground. Conifer plantations form strong green blocks below the open hills. A scatter of large grey boulders occupies the foreground among muted grass and purple vegetation. Those colours suggest autumn, while pale cloud banks and soft daylight keep the distant ridges clearly separated.
