Description
Skipper's Island Nature Reserve is defined by branching tidal creeks and green salt marsh, creating a quiet, open coastal scene Reeds frame the near creek.
A narrow creek winds from the lower right through bands of marsh and pale exposed mud. Low islands of grass divide the water into shifting channels, while taller reeds lean in from the left foreground. A thin tree line marks the far edge of the reserve beneath a wide sky. The high viewpoint makes the pattern of water and vegetation easy to follow.
At Skipper's Island Nature Reserve, the image centres on the changing ground between land and tide. The small channels draw the eye inland, then open out across the flats. Someone familiar with this Essex reserve may recognise the calm, expansive character of its marsh edge in the distant line of trees.
