Description
Silloth in Cumbria looks across a broad tidal shore towards a distant Scottish hill, with blue pools winding through warm sand beneath softly glowing clouds and open sea.
On the Cumbrian shore of the Solway Firth, this coastal settlement faces Scotland across a wide expanse of tidal water. Criffel rises beyond the opposite shore, linking the town's west-beach outlook to the hills on the northern side of the estuary.
At Silloth, shallow blue channels spread across orange-brown sand, reflecting pale gold patches in the sky. The tide lies far out, leaving broad areas of smooth beach exposed. A dark green hill rises above a low distant coastline and tiny pale buildings. Cream clouds extend over the water, warmed by the light of a late summer afternoon.
