Description
Sham Castle rises above a clear, stone-strewn stream, its pale battlements, round tower and arched gatehouse catching the light against layered Devon hills in summer.
A narrow footpath climbs the bank towards the dark entrance, passing a low boundary wall and sunlit grass. The main tower shows slim vertical openings and a pointed window above the arch, while red roof planes appear behind the crenellations. Reeds lean over rippled water in the foreground, where scattered rocks interrupt the castle's broken reflection.
Sham Castle forms a compact fortification within an open Devon landscape. Water in the foreground softens the hard geometry of the walls and gives the view a measured route from riverbank to gateway. The print suits those who respond to historic-looking stone architecture, low hills and the quiet movement of a stream under a wide sky.
