Description
Sgùrr nan Gillean rises above a rocky stream, its sharp ridge drawing the eye through this open Highland view with a sense of height and distance.
The stream winds between angular stones in the foreground, narrowing towards a small cascade near the centre. Beyond it, green upland slopes roll towards the jagged mountain ridge, whose grey faces catch the light beneath scattered clouds. The water and rocky banks make a close route into the wider view.
For walkers in the Highland, this composition brings the mountain and its lower ground into one sightline. The stony streambed gives the foreground the feel of a real route, while Sgùrr nan Gillean remains the clear landmark above the open slopes.
