Description
Selworthy invites a slower Somerset afternoon among village gardens, a warm country retreat for those who cherish thatched cottages and the ease of following a path towards distant hills.
A curving path passes purple flowers and a neatly clipped hedge before reaching an ochre cottage. Its thick straw roof has a low projecting porch and tall chimneys, with a smaller thatched house set beyond the lawn to the right. Branches shade the upper corner, while wooded folds and a mauve ridge stretch beneath an amber sky.
The garden approach gives Selworthy an intimate first impression before the wider Exmoor country opens behind it. Cottage, lawn and distant slope belong comfortably together.
