Description
Roman Lighthouse, Dover rises as a square stone tower above a small church, with white cliffs and the Channel beyond giving the hilltop scene a strong coastal setting.
Rough grey blocks build the tower in broad courses, interrupted by small dark openings and paired arched windows near the top. A red-brown church roof cuts across its base, while low defensive walls step through the grass in front. To the left, pale rock faces descend towards blue water, with a thin harbour line marking the distance.
Visitors climbing the heights above Dover may recognise how the Roman Lighthouse, Dover brings masonry, sea and crossing routes into one view. The image gives that elevated approach a clear focus, from the churchyard walls to the far Channel and the bright cliffs below.
