Description
River Alde looks towards a tall riverside church tower, with moored sailboats, reed-fringed shallows and broad blue water carrying the eye beneath a sky full of sunlit cloud.
A square brick tower rises above dark trees on the far bank, its arched windows picked out against cream clouds. In front, slim masts gather beside low boats at a small landing, while golden reeds and rippled water create a calm foreground along the shore.
River Alde brings together the pleasures of a slow waterside approach: the distant tower, boats waiting at their moorings and the wide channel. Visitors can imagine following the bank towards the landing, while residents may find the familiar balance of marshy edge and open water ready to return to every day. The open composition leaves the river as the lasting centre of attention.
