This portrait by Gortzius Geldorp, dated 1606, depicts a young girl identified as a sister of Catharina Fourmenois. The subject, aged six at the time of the commission, is presented with the formal composure typical of early seventeenth-century portraiture. Geldorp, a Flemish painter who spent much of his career in Cologne, was known for his ability to capture the likenesses of the merchant and aristocratic classes of the period.
