Description
Plockton in Highland Lochalsh lines a turquoise bay with pale cottages and small sailing boats, their reflections resting below wooded slopes and broad blue mountains in bright summer sunshine.
Plockton developed as a planned fishing village on a sheltered inlet of Loch Carron. Its east facing shore turns away from prevailing winds, contributing to the mild conditions that allow cabbage trees to grow along Harbour Street. The settlement belongs to Lochalsh, close to the western Highland coast.
Pale houses form a long low waterfront above a rocky sea wall. Small boats gather beside a short landing, with fine white masts against the leafy trees. Turquoise water fills the bay, crossed by soft reflections below broad blue mountain shoulders. At the near edge, grey rocks and purple heather rise from green grass, suggesting clear light during the height of summer.
