Armand Guillaumin, a contemporary of Pissarro and Cézanne, maintained a consistent presence within the Impressionist circle. This work depicts the volcanic terrain of the Puy de Dôme region in central France. The composition focuses on the agricultural rhythms of the plateau, featuring a series of haystacks that anchor the foreground.
