Description
Pagham in West Sussex opens onto a sheltered wetland harbour, with pale blue creeks threading green saltmarsh towards a distant church spire beneath a broad cloud filled sky.
Pagham Harbour is a sheltered West Sussex inlet supporting internationally important wildlife habitats. Saltmarsh, mudflats, lagoons, reedbeds and shingle shore meet here, while tern colonies and visiting waders make the reserve an important place to watch coastal birds through the changing seasons.
The view follows a blue channel between rounded banks of thick green marsh vegetation. Small margins of brown mud mark the water's edge, and mirrored clouds soften the surface. Farther back, low fields stretch towards trees, a pale cottage and a narrow church spire. Grasses lean into the lower left corner, while full greenery and cool clear light suggest a calm summer day beside the harbour.
