Description
Old Forge is defined by a high stone monument above a single-arched bridge, where a narrow stream and dense Herefordshire woodland shape a secluded valley view.
A slender tapering stone monument rises above Old Forge at the far side of the bridge, capped by a small domed top. The bridge itself has a single deep arch, stout parapets and rounded end posts. Below it, water moves between pale boulders, while close-set trees cover the hillside under blue sky and cream cloud.
For a resident or visitor, Old Forge feels connected by the crossing as much as by the monument above it. The stream creates a route through the wooded Herefordshire setting, and the open arch offers a memorable sightline towards the stone tower and the slope behind it.
