Description
Ogof Ffynnon Ddu centres on a vast limestone arch, its dark interior set against pale rock, heather and the open Welsh hillside in Powys.
Fine cracks and horizontal layers animate the cliff face, catching the sunlight above the cavern's heavy shadow. A rough path rises over scattered stones at its base, with patches of purple heather and bright grass making a lively edge against the mineral colours of the rock.
Ogof Ffynnon Ddu has the pull of a place where the Brecon Beacons landscape suddenly opens into something more enclosed and elemental. For those who know the reserve, the print recalls the approach beneath the immense arch and the contrast between sunlit hill and cool stone.
