Description
Northumberland Coast shows a great fortress high on a grassy ridge, mirrored in thin silver water that sweeps across the sands far below it.
Marram-topped dunes run in front of the walls, a square keep stands tallest at the right, and ripples and sand ribs fill the lower foreground. Puffy clouds cross a deep blue sky. Beneath the castle, wind-combed grass and pale sand spill down toward the shore. The wet beach carries a soft mirror image of walls, towers and sky, with gentle curves of foam at the left. The mood is bright, spacious and very still.
Bamburgh Castle crowns the beach and is the best-known sight on the Northumberland Coast. It suits anyone who loves big skies, wide sand and a castle on the skyline. The wide reflections and clear light make it a good match for a living room or hall with lots of daylight.
