Description
Mam Tor / Stanage Edge brings a long, stepped ridgeline and angular gritstone foreground together above moorland colour, with a pale track leading towards the summit.
Sunlit slabs occupy the near edge, their dark vertical fissures giving way to a broad amber plateau. The land then falls into deep green flanks before rising again to a pointed crest, traced by a thin path. Purple-brown moor extends behind it in wide planes, and soft cream clouds stretch across the high blue sky.
Mam Tor / Stanage Edge speaks to the pleasure of a Peak District route that keeps changing its scale, from close rock underfoot to distant open ground. Visitors can follow the visible line towards the horizon, while regular walkers may recognise the dry stone, moor colours and sudden sweep of the ridge.
