Description
MacCulloch's Fossil Tree sets a tall striking weathered stone trunk-like form beside a stepped waterfall, with dark rock and conifers enclosing the rushing water.
Pale grey panels and narrow dark seams divide the upright feature, with a rust-coloured mark catching light near its base. Water spills down successive rock ledges into a narrow pool, while rounded boulders gather along the lower edge. Above the falls, a dark cliff rises towards slender conifers and a lighter tree softens the distance.
MacCulloch's Fossil Tree offers the kind of concentrated geological drama that stays with people exploring Mull. Stone, falling water and the striking vertical form meet at close range, before the pale cascade draws the eye back among the rocks.
