Description
Lulworth in Dorset opens around a turquoise circular cove, with pale coastal cliffs, golden grassy slopes and distant fields beneath a peach evening sky above the Jurassic Coast.
Lulworth’s cove lies on Dorset’s Jurassic Coast near West Lulworth village. Its almost circular shape reflects the contrasting resistance of coastal rock bands. Chalk forms the back wall, while steeply inclined Portland limestone creates the outer headlands, revealing the effects of the Purbeck Monocline.
The high view looks down onto a ring of turquoise water enclosed by cream cliffs and a narrow pale beach. Golden grass covers the ridge behind the bay, with green field divisions and small houses farther inland. Dark rocks mark the entrance beside low surf. Peach and violet clouds wash the whole coastal landscape in soft evening colour.
