Description
Loch Tarbert is framed by sunlit rock faces and heathered slopes, drawing the eye along a pale waterway into the recesses of the Argyll coast.
The nearest hillside drops sharply through pale stone shelves, purple heather and dark scrub to the water. Across the inlet, a long russet slope meets a sequence of smaller headlands, each narrowing the view towards blue-grey hills at Loch Tarbert. Broad cloud shapes soften the high sky above the channel.
Visitors who have followed the roads and ferries around Loch Tarbert may recognise the close relation between rock, water and rising ground. For local people, the folded inlets can recall a familiar route whose scenery shifts at every bend. The scene holds that feeling in its receding headlands and quiet stretches of water.
