Description
Loch na Keal curves beneath a broad sunlit mountain, its blue sea loch and dark headlands giving Mull an open, western grandeur on Mull.
Ochre slopes fall in long folds towards the near shore, where slate rocks make a low promontory against the water. Behind it, the mountain face is cut by pale gullies, while narrow cloud bands leave a wide gold-lit strip across the sky.
For anyone crossing Mull, Loch na Keal brings together the island's long coast roads and its abrupt uplands. The view recalls a stop above the tide line, looking along the inlet as light moves across the moor and the headlands taper towards the distant sea in changing weather.
