Llyn y Fan Fach opens across a deep blue mountain lake, with a high dark escarpment and pale foreground rock creating a cool, spacious view of Carmarthenshire upland.
Cloud shadows cross the long slopes around the water, leaving bright strips of grass beneath the steep western ridge. The lake narrows towards a hazy valley, while scattered grey stones punctuate the near hillside. Broad, broken clouds gather above the skyline and a soft silver reflection runs down the centre of the water.
Llyn y Fan Fach carries the scale of a day spent high in the Brecon Beacons, where the path and weather continually reshape the view. This scene holds the lake close between its enclosing hills without turning away from the distance. The pale boulders in front and the dark ridge beyond give the place its satisfying contrast of rough ground, open water and rising land.
