Maximilien Luce (1858-1941) was a French Neo-Impressionist artist, known for his paintings, graphic art, and political activism. He began his artistic training as a wood engraver, later studying painting at the Académie Suisse and in the studio of Isidore Pils. He became associated with the Neo-Impressionist movement in the late 1880s, adopting the Pointillist technique popularised by Georges Seurat and Paul Signac. Luce's work often depicted urban scenes, industrial landscapes, and scenes of working-class life. He was also involved in anarchist politics and contributed illustrations to leftist publications.
