Description
Jiggers Bank holds a blue quarry pool below pale broken cliff faces, where purple heather and distant fields soften the hard geometry of the former workings.
Large grey blocks lie scattered on the high rim, leading down through vertical cut rock to the still water. Heather-coloured patches gather along the near edge, while a dark tree belt separates the quarry from a wide patchwork of farmland. Long white clouds stretch across a light blue sky above the far low hills.
For people familiar with Jiggers Bank, the contrast between exposed stone and the quieter ground beyond is part of its appeal. The pool gives the scene a calm centre, and the surrounding walls preserve the immediate scale of the old cut beside the open Shropshire border country.
