Description
Inverie in Highland Knoydart lines a blue sea loch with white cottages and a timber pier, backed by dark conifers and a rounded green hill under tall summer clouds.
Inverie is the principal settlement of Knoydart, on the northern shore of Loch Nevis. The peninsula has no connection to the public road network, so access is usually by boat from Mallaig or on foot through the mountains. The village forms a gateway to extensive Highland walking country.
A row of white houses faces the water, interrupted by a taller central building beside a narrow timber pier. Dark conifers cover the hillside behind, with lighter broadleaf trees around the roofs. A thin wisp of smoke rises on the left. Green upper slopes and a small rocky crown stand beneath high white clouds, while short blue ripples suggest a fine summer day on the loch.
