Description
Yellow gorse lights the approach to Hound Tor in Devon, where a low cluster of jagged granite rises above open moorland beneath the warm colours of an evening sky.
Hound Tor is a granite outcrop on Dartmoor in Devon, near Manaton. Its rocky summit rises above open ground, with gorse growing on the lower slopes. Approaching across the surrounding moor reveals the broken outline of the tor against the sky.
Dense yellow flowers fill the near bank, their dark foliage contrasting with the gold of the grass beyond. Layered blocks form a low, uneven crown on the hill. Soft purple ridges extend behind the rocks, while broad orange cloud edges brighten the upper view. The warm light leaves long, muted shadows across the slopes.
