Heydon in Norfolk gathers its cottages, church and roofed village well around green spaces, with a distant red brick hall and surrounding fields beneath a wide, softly clouded summer sky.
An estate village in Norfolk, this settlement has a green centred on a well house built as Queen Victoria's Jubilee memorial in 1887. Architect George Skipper designed the structure, near the medieval church of St Peter and St Paul and several other listed buildings.
The elevated view over Heydon follows red roofs around a small open green. A roofed well stands near the centre, while the church's square tower rises above trees on the right. Beyond the village, a large red brick house faces broad lawns. Hedges divide the distant green fields, with full foliage and pale clouds suggesting midsummer sunshine.
