Description
Hedgehope Hill in Northumberland rises above the Harthope Valley, with rounded green ridges, rocky outcrops and heather slopes showing the open Cheviot landscape around this high border-country summit.
At 714 metres, Hedgehope Hill is the second-highest mountain in the Cheviots. It overlooks the Harthope Valley in Northumberland, with routes approaching from Langleeford and from Linhope to the south-east, giving walkers different ways into this steep-sided upland landscape.
Green slopes overlap around a wooded valley floor, with a small rock outcrop breaking the left ridge. Purple-pink heather bands the nearest grass above large pale boulders. The higher rounded hill carries a browner crown beyond the sunlit foreground. Heather flowers and full valley trees suggest late summer, beneath a clear blue sky filled with rounded cream clouds.
