Description
Gunners looks across blue water from a winding cliff path, where a round stone tower, granite boulders and heather lead towards low Isles of Scilly islets.
A pale footpath curves through short grass and purple heather before climbing to the squat circular tower. At Gunners, weathered granite boulders fill the foreground, while sandy coves and scattered dark rocks make a broken line along the shore. Beyond them, several low islands sit in bands of turquoise and deeper blue beneath billowing cloud.
The route at Gunners may feel familiar to visitors walking the coastal paths of the Isles of Scilly, where every rise changes the view across the water. Residents can recognise the close mix of granite, heath and sea. The tower's rounded silhouette and the path beyond it give this headland a distinct sense of direction.
