Description
Gospel Pass / Black Mountain pairs a dark craggy outcrop with a sweeping upland valley, where a pale river thread and layered blue ridges recede beneath a broad clouded sky.
At Gospel Pass / Black Mountain, a black rock spur rises from the foreground above moorland divided by a winding watercourse. A broad-sided summit catches muted ochre and slate tones, while blue hills close the far distance. Large grey-white clouds occupy most of the sky, opening around a thin strip of blue above the valley.
Walkers crossing the Brecon Beacons find the scale of the high pass alongside its smaller details. The river's pale course draws the eye through the land, and the isolated rocks give the scene a firm, weathered foreground.
