Description
Glastonbury Somerset rises around a lone tower on a green hill, framed by dark branches and open Somerset countryside, with the foreground shore, open water and distant land all kept in view.
A stone tower stands at the summit of a rounded hill, with a pale path climbing the slope towards it. Dark trees frame the upper corners, while smaller hedgerows and fields spread across the lower distance. White clouds sit above the hill against a clear blue sky.
The tower makes Glastonbury Somerset recognisable from across the surrounding low ground. Its hill stands apart from the fields, and the path leading upwards gives the scene a clear route from countryside to summit. The changing shapes of the shore and the clear separation between near ground and distance remain visible throughout the scene.
